March Madness
With March Madness and a few exams all comming together next week I can see my weekend having very little time for updates but for now I would like to share something I find very cool that is related to the topic. As technology advances it slowly finds a way of changing all of our lives and connecting us in ways we never thought of. For example on facebook there is a bracket tournament where you can make your own bracket, post it, form pools (from many schools) see live updates and see how you rank against people in your pool, in your school and everyone across the nation! It is really a cool idea and I love how I can share my March Madness cranizess with all my friends even if they go to different schools.

To make matters worse there are live updates on espn. You can sit there and if your not near a TV you can see how a game is turning out. For example since my campus is wireless in most places I really was anxious to see how BC was going to do when I heard they were down early on. So I connected my wireless and it updated me while I was in class. I will admit it was kind of distracting but I was able to pay attention to both. Of course many will argue that this is not a good thing. Students should be paying attention to class not worrying about basketball scores but I think students are talented and smart enough these days where they can be responsible and manage both activities at the same time. I feel looking at the score every 5 minutes really quickly was not distracting me enough to really hamper my learning. I was able to keep track of the game and take pretty good notes at the same time!
There is also this on demand video available at the NCAA website where you supposebly can watch the game live over a broadband connection. The service is free but you have to wait "in line" if yout don't have VIP access. I am sure you have to pay for the later, although it only took about 2 minutes for me to start watching a video. It was actually pretty good quality. I was impressed. I think they are only offering this for the first few rounds and you have to pay for the final four and championship.
None the less it once again cool to see how technology once again really does imporve our lives and by the way Darn You Syracuse! Your really messed up my bracket!

That's what you get for doubting Texas A&M! A, WHOOP! (<-- The Proudest Member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2008)
I hope you have Texas picked. They're goin' all they way, baby!
UNC messed up my bracket pretty bad...so did Iowa and Kansas (stupid Big 12 champions can't even get past the first round...what the heck). There are a lot of red lines right now.
I'm on Facebook and CNNSI.
I had Iowa with the big upset over Texas but Iowa let me down. I favor the Big Ten for obvious reasons but they all have let me down! I think Duke going to the finals (like just about everyone else) is the last thing that still stands on my bracket!
