Motion Computing announces the C5 Clinical Assistant Tablet PC
Tablet PC + Medical/Pharmaceutical Industry = a very happy Jason!
Tablet PCs are no stranger to the medical world and it's these vertical markets that have allowed Tablet PCs to continue fighting in the shadows for so long before making their appearance into the mainsteam. Although a tablet is nothing new, a properly developed device specifically tailored to those is the medical profession is a concept that has needed some extra attention for quite some time now. Why these devices have not been implemented into the medical scene as quickly as I would like probably has to due with many factors including financial and budget requirements but it just makes too much sense not to have Tablet PCs in this industry!
Strictly speaking from the business side of things, the cost effectiveness and possible increase in efficiency Tablet PCs could provide are factors that just can't be ignored. Quite frankly I am surprised that so many hospitals still rely heavily on paper. Incorporating my own experience in a pharmacy has also led to the development of a vision where scripts become digitalized and are sent immediately to the patent's pharmacist of choice with the click of a button.
But enough rambling about Tablet PCs and the medical industry for now! (I have midterms to study for after all) Check out what Motion Computing has in store for all you future practitioners, nurses, PAs, and PTs (to just name a few)!

Toshiba Tablet PC To Have Newgen Healthcare Solution
"The combination is meant for doctors, medical professionals and practitioners requiring anytime, anywhere access to documents."I've always known there to be many great software packages for doctors and the medical community, but having the hardware distributor (
Toshiba in this case) actually creating and developing their own health care solutions is something entirely new for me.
Motion Computing has been the best at working with doctors and such software companies, that tailor their applications towards the medical community, but they never took the leap to develop the applications themselves. I don't criticize this behavior though as the market here is still quite isolated. However we are all witnesses to this digital transformation that is rapidly occurring. Digital X-ray, paperless records, online access to your health care records, it is all shaping the medical community into a digital interconnected network. As a MIS minor I am quickly learning how these systems and technologies can improve the care doctors can provide and assist them in their everyday diagnosis and I am excited at the numerous opportunities they will provide.
Indeed the Tablet PC is now a major player in this transformation and I look forward to see which other hardware companies realize the true potential of this market. I do tip my hat, for the moment, to
Toshiba for their dedication to the the medical community and look forward to see exactly where they proceed with this.
